Valorie Howie Lasley is founder of The ELI, The Empowered Living Institute, a business committed to empowering and inspiring youth and women with a history of abuse. She believes that many young girls and adult women have a difficult time identifying and accepting the abuse that has occurred and is occurring in their lives.
Working from this belief she created and used with her clients, the KAL Principle (Know. Accept. Live. ). Knowledge is empowering. Simply knowing the truth about yourself, others, and/or any given situation and accepting that truth, allows you the freedom to live as you are or the freedom to make the choices, changes, and/or adjustments to become the life you want. Freedom is only accomplished if you know and accept what you know.
Valorie Howie Lasley has conducted seminars with church youth groups and community center groups on the topics of self-esteem, drug abuse, and violence in dating. She has also participated with Urban Readers of Louisville, a youth group that uses creative writing as a tool of expression.
For the past year Ms. Lasley has been an authorized facilitator of Stewards of Children training, a national initiative of the Darkness2Light organization to teach every adult in the United States to become more aware of the dangers of child sexual abuse. She plans to continue this work after completing a recertification course.
She authored the book, The Battle Is the Lord's, a story of surviving abuse written in poetry. She is currently co-authoring the book, Celebration of Life, An Inspiration for Women to be published in December 2011.
Valorie Howie Lasley is current member of The Professional Woman Network Speakers and Authors Bureau. She is also a member of the National Association of Professional Women.
She currently lives in Louisville, KY with her husband of 11 years, Roderic.
